Don’t you ever find it interesting how our folk songs have always been the companion to almost all of our occasions? Let’s take any one song you remember for example. The day before yesterday, it was the lullaby for our grandma to make us sleep; yesterday, it was the game changer song of the Antakshari between our friends and today, it the only essential of our family festivals and gatherings. Those timeless folk songs continue to resonate with us, never fading from our hearts neither yesterday nor today. And that bestows in us the responsibility to keep them alive for tomorrow as well.
Chautal is here to do that.
It is a journey of going back to our humble beginning through folk music and stories: a platform where we capture raw voices and stories while traveling, learning, and collaborating with folks around. Musical documentaries, Photo Memories, Folk Songs and artists collaborations are a few ways to bring our shadowed culture in-front of today’s generation and allow them to behold the beauty of this simplicity breathing in every corner of our villages.
Chautal is the initiative of Mr. Ravi Panday, a passionate traveler who, along with his bag-pack studio, has been traveling across villages, recording folks, learning to cook their local cuisines, living their lifestyle, understanding their culture and bringing them with him into the songs and documentaries to our platform.
Chautal is for everyone; it’s for you, for me and everyone who has for once enjoyed the magic of our roots.
